How Does a Same Day or CEREC Crown Differ From Traditional Crowns?

What is the Difference Between CEREC and Traditional Crowns?

Many patients are curious to learn the difference between a CEREC crown and a traditional crown. When a patient receives a traditional crown they will need to come in for numerous appointments requiring them to miss school or work numerous times. During the first visit for a traditional crown, we will prepare your tooth and make an impression that will be sent to the lab. While waiting for your permanent crown to be created you will need to wear a temporary crown that might be ill-fitting. Once we receive the permanent crown we will then schedule your next appointment and remove the temporary. CEREC technology allows us to create your permanent crown in only one two-hour visit.
