Am I candidate for Dental Implants?
How Do You Determine a Candidate for Dental Implants?
There are a few steps we take in order to see if a patient is an ideal candidate for dental implants. First, we take panoramic v-rays, regular x-rays, CAT scans, and intra-oral photographs. The CAT scan is used to determine the height of the bone, width of the bone, and see the structures in a patients’ jaw that might hinder the installation of the implant.
These diagnostic tools allow us to plan the surgery before the actual day of surgery allowing us to be certain there is enough bone to properly, and successfully, place the implant. Using these x-rays we can place the implant digitally to see the outcome before we even start the actual surgery.
