Do I Need to Have Tooth Structure Removed for Dental Veneers?
What Are the Concerns When it Comes to Veneers?
Many patients express concerns when it comes to veneers and the removal of the structure of their natural teeth. It is highly common for us to remove a small amount of tooth structure in order for the veneer to sit correctly and for it to appear natural. We generally only remove a small of tooth structure which will then be replaced with porcelain. Each patient will receive a custom treatment plan that will go over if we need to remove any tooth structure. In some cases such as patients with smaller teeth, or teeth that are not positioned correctly, we will not need to remove any portion of the tooth’s structure. Preface veneers refers to veneers that can be installed without removing any tooth structure; this is a great option to preserve the whole tooth while helping patients achieve their ideal look.
